SHABBAT KABBALOT
We welcome Shabbat every Friday night at 6:00 p.m. Lay-led, the service and melodies vary from week to week. Check with the office (773.752.2770) for more information.
Some of our congregational dinners are paired with special programs, as Rodfei Zedek explores different ways for our community to come together and welcome Shabbat and festivals.
Shabbat Dinners
These are relaxed, traditional Friday-night dinners following an earlier Kabbalat Shabbat service. Let someone else do the cooking, and enjoy Shabbat dinner with friends and family. Everyone is welcome, but we tailor two kinds of dinners to our members' needs:
- Congregational Dinners
- The emphasis is on welcoming the Sabbath Bride. It's a friendly service, sometimes led in part by our students, in terms everyone can understand and value. Everyone is welcome; the cost is modest. You need not be accompanied by a child to attend! Services are at 6:00, preceding dinner.
- By reservation from time to time throughout the year: October 4 (Simchat Torah, Thursday), October 26, November 9, December 14, January 18, February 22 (featuring Shircago), March 20 (Purim supper followed by Megillah reading, Thursday), April 11, May 9, May 30, June 8 (Erev Shavuot, Thursday).
In July we enjoy a Shabbat al fresco at a congregant's home
- Shabbat Chavurah
- Shabbat Chavurah is a casual, serene way to welcome Shabbat. We all pitch in on a home-style dinner, with plenty of good conversation and fellowship, and a beautiful traditional Kabbalat Shabbat service preceding dinner at 6:00. Everyone is welcome; the cost is economical. Times and dates may change; please check with the office at 773.752.2770.
- By reservation about once a month: October 12, November 2, December 28, January 25, February 8, March 7, March 28, April 25, May 16, June 13.
