Refugee Project- New Volunteer Info Meeting, off-site
Sunday, February 23, 2020 • 28 Shevat 5780
4:00 PM - 5:30 PMThe Hyde Park Refugee Project, a subgroup of the Hyde Park-Kenwood Interfaith Council, has successfully settled two refugee families in the neighborhood over the last few years. A new family is expected in just a couple of months, and the Rodfei Zedek Social Justice Committee is looking for volunteers interested in helping settle this family in their new home. Tasks may include fundraising; helping families connect with employers; English tutoring; helping with errands, transportation, appointments, and anything else they need; mentoring; and friendship. Volunteers are required to attend several information/training sessions, both with the local group and with Refugee One (the largest refugee resettlement agency in Illinois) over the next few weeks.
The first Volunteer Information Meeting is at the Augustana Lutheran Church, Room 1 (corner of 55th and Woodlawn). RSVP directly to the Refugee Project
