Shabbat

One Community, Many Voices in Worship

Participate in a variety of opportunities for worship.  All ages always welcome. To request an aliya or honor, speak to the gabbai at services, or call the office during the week.

No matter which service(s) you attend, join the entire community for kiddush lunch, often followed by zemirot/community singing.

Shabbat Morning Services

For Adults

Na'aseh V'Nishma Minyan: Inspired by the words above the Ark in the Simon Sanctuary, “We will do, and then we will listen as we seek to understand,” this uplifting, participatory, musical service with instruments, facilitated by Cantor Rachel Rosenberg and others, is a signature Rodfei Zedek offering.

Extended Study Tefillah and Extended Study Torah: Join us for an in-depth study of selected prayers from the Shabbat morning liturgy, led by Cantor Rachel Rosenberg, and engage in a hybrid, interactive extended Torah discussion.

Hybrid Masorti Minyan: Join us from anywhere for a participatory, egalitarian service with member-led davening and Torah reading, engaging Divrei Torah from Rabbi David Minkus, and song and prayer led by Cantor Rachel Rosenberg and others.

Masorti Minyan Unplugged: This is our egalitarian, participatory service with a full Torah and Haftarah reading, and will meet without technology.

For youth

Minyan Katan: Join us for joyful services geared towards children ages 0-5 and their families, including grandparents! Once a month on First Shabbat! We pray, sing, and dance. Challah and grape juice follow as we schmooze and play.

Minyan Gadol: Children ages 6+ are invited to a service with members of their families where they pray, sing, and learn together. Rabbi Minkus and Cantor Rosenberg engage children and families in a participatory experience and build new skills such as chanting from the Torah scroll and leading prayers.

B-Mitzvah and Teen Gatherings: Opportunities for our young adults to meet for engaging discussion around the themes of the Torah portion, led by Rabbi Minkus.

For Families

First Shabbat! On the first Shabbat of each month starting in November, First Shabbat! provides offerings for everyone to enjoy in celebration of Shabbat. In addition to our Masorti Minyan Unplugged, we offer family-friendly activities and services including our musical Na’aseh V’Nishma service, babysitting, story-telling, open gym, and kiddush lunch. Bring your whole family and friends to celebrate an exciting Shabbat and new month!

Kiddush Lunch is back!

We are so excited to join in a communal meal once again on select Shabbatot each month! Menus for each week can be found in our weekly e-newsletter.

Want to sponsor a meal for the community? Email our Director of Visioning and Engagement, Hannah, at dve@rodfei.org to coordinate a sponsored kiddush.

Please join us in person or online!

We almost always have our Shabbat and Festival services available as a hybrid option. Make sure you subscribe to our newsletter to find details regarding accessing our services remotely, and check our calendar to see our most up-to-date schedule of services.
